A native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Mr. Lochmaier founded Island Capital in 2000 after a successful decade of experience working for Wells Fargo Bank as a regional manager in private banking.  Merrill’s 35 year career in banking has been almost entirely concentrated in private banking as it relates to finance for high net worth individuals.

Mr. Lochmaier started his banking career in the early 1980’s as a private banker and commercial loan officer with Imperial Bank based in San Diego, CA.  He was subsequently recruited to join Washington, D.C. based DSL Capital Corporation as Vice President of Investment Banking.

At DSL, Mr. Lochmaier was responsible for managing corporate debt financings placed into the public capital markets utilizing credit enhancement from instruments provided by money center banks.  At DSL, Mr. Lochmaier assisted in managing company relationships with bulge bracket institutions along with several New York based money center banks . 

In 1990, Mr. Lochmaier was recruited to join Wells Fargo Bank as a Regional Manager of Private Banking.  Mr. Lochmaier spent a decade at Wells Fargo sourcing private banking relationships along with funding corporate finance transactions for high net worth clients.  As a regional manager, Mr. Lochmaier was responsible for managing these activities for the State of Florida with numerous employees and offices throughout the state.

In 2000, Mr. Lochmaier left Wells Fargo and formed Island Capital for broader flexibility in the types of financings provided for his private banking clients.  Island Capital has a presence in Palm Beach, Florida for U.S. based clients and Nassau, Bahamas for international clients.

Mr. Lochmaier completed his undergraduate studies in Physics and Computer Engineering at Florida Institute of Technology.  He subsequently completed the MBA program at The University of California at Irvine.  Mr. Lochmaier is a former Co-Chairman of the Military Order of the Purple Heart charity in South Florida.
